Kuwait Airport Terminal 1 reopens gates as international flights return
Kuwait has taken a significant step toward restoring its position as a regional aviation hub with the reopening of Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport, allowing international airlines to resume operations and strengthening the country's global connectivity after months of disruption.

The Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) has officially reopened its gates to international airlines, marking a major step in the airport’s phased return to full operations following months of disruption and extensive rehabilitation work.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) announced that Arab and international carriers would gradually resume operations from Terminal 1 beginning (today) June 1. The reopening follows the completion of repair, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades carried out after damage sustained during regional security incidents earlier this year.
According to PACA Chairman Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, the return of services will be implemented in stages under an operational plan designed to ensure safety, technical readiness, and smooth passenger movement.
Authorities said the terminal has undergone extensive restoration and modernization efforts, giving the facility a renewed appearance while meeting international aviation safety standards.
The reopening of Terminal 1 represents another milestone in Kuwait’s aviation recovery. Since commercial flights resumed on a limited basis in late April, operations had primarily been handled through Terminal 4, used by Kuwait Airways, and Terminal 5, used by Jazeera Airways.
With Terminal 1 back in service, foreign carriers are expected to progressively restore their schedules and expand connectivity to key international destinations.
Government officials have described the reopening as an important step toward restoring Kuwait International Airport to its full operational capacity. The move is expected to ease travel demand, improve passenger flow, and support the country’s broader transportation and economic recovery efforts.
The airport’s return to normal operations comes after a phased reopening strategy introduced in April, with authorities continuing to evaluate operational performance and security readiness as additional services resume.
