Kuwait Airport T1 resumes operations with 18 scheduled flights

- Civil Aviation confirms phased reopening of Kuwait International Airport following a nearly 90-day suspension
- First arriving flight today was operated by Etihad Airways at 9:55am, with a total of 18 flights scheduled for arrival and departure throughout the day
Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1 has resumed operations following a nearly 90-day suspension, with Arab and international airlines gradually restarting flights this morning.
The reopening marks the phased return of air traffic after the shutdown, with authorities allowing airlines that have formally applied to resume operations to operate within a controlled schedule.

Director of Operations at the Civil Aviation Authority, Mansour Al-Hashemi, said the airport is witnessing a gradual resumption of services as coordination continues with relevant authorities to restore normal flight operations.
He explained that, for the time being, flight movements are scheduled between 4am and 10pm under a temporary operational framework similar to arrangements at other terminals, with a full return to normal operations expected in stages.

Al-Hashemi said the first arriving flight today was operated by Etihad Airways at 9:55am, with a total of 18 flights scheduled for arrival and departure throughout the day. He added that each airline will initially operate a single round trip as part of the phased restart.
He urged passengers to adhere to updated travel procedures, noting that check-in counters for Gulf and Arab destinations close one hour before departure, while counters for international flights close one and a half hours prior. Travellers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four hours before departure.
He also confirmed that certain services, including pre-flight baggage weighing a day in advance, remain temporarily unavailable, except for limited services provided by Kuwait Airways.
Al-Hashemi said operations are currently being managed in line with available capacity, with around 20 airlines resuming services out of more than 50 that previously operated, as part of a gradual recovery plan coordinated by aviation authorities.
