Interior Ministry urges parents to monitor children’s online activity

. . . watch for suspicious online accounts and extremist content

The Ministry of Interior has urged parents to closely monitor their children’s digital activity and remain alert to the risk of exposure to extremist content, suspicious accounts and harmful online influences.

The ministry issued an awareness message titled “Your Children in the Digital World: Your Responsibility” only hours after announcing the arrest of two minors accused of communicating with members of the ISIS terrorist organization and allegedly planning attacks on places of worship.

In its message, the Ministry of Interior stressed the important role families play in protecting children from online threats. Parents have been encouraged to monitor the content their children access to on social media platforms, be aware of the individuals and accounts they communicate with, and maintain open dialogue about their online experiences and interests.

The ministry also called on families to educate children about the dangers of extremist ideologies and deviant behavior, while strengthening values of loyalty, national belonging and respect for the law.

The ministry’s appeal highlights the importance of parental awareness and constructive communication in helping children navigate the digital environment safely and reducing their vulnerability to harmful or extremist influences.
