Kuwait achieves significant milestone, 149 successful kidney transplants in 2024
The Ministry of Health announced a significant milestone in Kuwait’s kidney transplant program, with a total of 149 successful kidney transplants recorded in 2024.
This significant achievement is the result of advancements in the Organ Transplant Department at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, which began operations in March 2024, and the launch of the National Kidney Transplant Program by Family Exchange in September 2024.
The Ministry confirmed that the success of the program has led to an increase in the number of treated cases, thanks to the medical staff’s expertise in performing successful surgeries on complex cases.
Importantly, the program aims to improve the chances of kidney transplant patients by enhancing donor compatibility and increasing the success rate of surgeries. This reflects Kuwait’s commitment to advancing its healthcare services and staying aligned with the latest medical technologies.
