‘Dil Ki Awaaz’ pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and India-Kuwait ties

Music, dance and cultural heritage took centre stage at “Dil Ki Awaaz – A Tribute to Indo-Kuwait Friendship,” organised by the Indian Cultural Society (ICS) on October 2, 2026, to celebrate the longstanding ties between India and Kuwait and mark Gandhi Jayanti, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Held at a gathering of community members and distinguished guests, the musical evening featured Indian playback singer Alamgir Khan, accompanied by performers Aamir Khan and Nishtha Pathak. Their performances brought popular melodies to the stage, with Alamgir Khan’s soulful renditions and energetic presence emerging as a major highlight.

The programme also showcased local talent, with performances by Vinod Pandir of Rhydhoonn, Rupali, Subhashish and Sangeet. The Dancing Divas presented dance performances inspired by India’s rich cultural traditions, while young students demonstrated their artistic skills.

The event was inaugurated by actress and singer Hind Al Baloushi, who performed a song. Guests Sultan Al Kandary and Mubarak Al Rashed addressed the gathering, highlighting the role of cultural exchange in strengthening friendship and harmony among communities.

The programme included the release of an ICS commemorative souvenir and the felicitation of Chairman of the Indian Community School, Kuwait, and Ashok Kalra, Managing Director of the Mughal Mahal Group, in recognition of their contributions. Participating artists and contributors also received ICS mementoes.

The event brought together representatives from business, community organisations and the Indian expatriate community, alongside sponsors and partners supporting the society’s cultural initiatives. In his concluding address, the ICS president thanked the guests, sponsors, performers, volunteers, technical teams and media partners, reaffirming the society’s commitment to promoting Indo-Kuwait friendship through cultural programmes and community initiatives.

The evening concluded with a patriotic musical finale, as the singers joined Alamgir Khan in performing the iconic Indian song “Dil Diya Hai, Jaan Bhi Denge, Ae Watan Tere Liye,” bringing the celebration of music, cultural identity and friendship to a close.
