Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs has launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media that appears to show a child being abused inside a nursery, raising questions about the circumstances of the incident and the measures in place to safeguard children.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Faisal Al-Kandari said the necessary measures have been initiated upon directives of Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah. Al-Kandari said the concerned department has been instructed to summon the child’s guardian and the nursery’s person in charge to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The ministry said it will take the necessary legal action in light of the findings. Al-Kandari stressed that the minister’s directives on child protection are crystal clear and firm, adding that there would be no leniency towards any violation that threatens children’s safety. Legal measures will be taken against anyone found responsible, he added.
Addressing safeguards inside nurseries, Al-Kandari added that all facilities are required to install surveillance cameras in accordance with the ministry’s circular. The requirement is intended to strengthen monitoring and help protect children.
The investigation is expected to establish what happened in the reported incident and determine whether any individual or facility bears legal responsibility.
