Interior Ministry pushes forward digital transformation to boost security efficiency

. . . focuses on technology, faster services to speed security operations and government services

The Ministry of Interior is advancing the development of its systems and adoption of modern technologies as part of efforts to enhance the efficiency of security operations and improve services for citizens and residents, according to Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib.

Al-Wahib said the ministry is pursuing a clear development strategy underpinning its digital transformation, in line with its responsibilities for maintaining security, protecting the country against crime and delivering services.

Al-Wahib made the remarks while reviewing a comprehensive presentation by the Human Resources and Information Technology sector of the ministry, in the presence of assistant undersecretaries, sector heads and other senior security officials.

The presentation outlined the sector’s key work system, services and development projects, as well as its role in strengthening institutional integration among the ministry’s various sectors.

Officials also reviewed the responsibilities of the sector’s departments and the services they provide to support the ministry’s human, technical and security requirements. The presentation highlighted efforts to improve the work environment, increase performance efficiency, accelerate transactions and enhance their accuracy and quality.

The presentation also covered the latest technological systems used to develop security work tools and improve information exchange. According to the ministry, these systems support efforts to apprehend wanted persons, search and investigate cases, identify and address security issues, and enable field sectors to carry out their duties and take necessary measures more quickly and accurately.

It also reviewed the ministry’s electronic services available through the unified government application Sahel, along with plans to develop the services and introduce additional ones in the future. The ministry said these efforts aim to simplify procedures, speed up transactions, reduce the burden on users and limit the need for personal attendance at ministry facilities.

At the conclusion of the presentation, Al-Wahib praised the Human Resources and Information Technology sector’s staff for their efforts and role in supporting the ministry’s various sectors.

He stressed that the ministry would continue its development and modernization efforts while strengthening integration between systems and services to improve the efficiency and readiness of the security system and the quality of services provided.
