Indians lead followed by Egyptians in Kuwait’s workforce market

The Indian community ranked first reaching 537 thousand individuals by the end of June 2024, while the Egyptian community ranked second, with a total of 474 thousand in the non-Kuwaiti labour segment, says Al Qabas.

A recent statistic by the Kuwait’s government revealed that the number of non-Kuwaiti workers in the public and private sectors, increased from 1,641,000 in June 2023 to 1,689,000 in June 2024, at a rate of 2.9% of the total non-Kuwaiti workforce. And their percentage in the labor market reached 78.9% of the total workforce in the market.

As for the highest nationalities in the labor market, the Indian community ranked first, with their numbers reaching 537,430 individuals by the end of June 2024, while the Egyptian community ranked second, with a total of 474,000.

The total number of employees in the government sector reached about 474 thousand employees, and the percentage of Kuwaitis among them reached, 79.6%.

Whereas, in the private sector, the number of employees reached about 1.7 million employees and the percentage of Kuwaitis among them was only, 4.4%.

Data from the Central Administration of Statistics showed that the total employment in the local labor market in the public and private sectors, excluding the family sector, amounted to 2,141,000 at the end of June 2024.

Moreover, statistics issued by the Central Administration of Statistics on labor market data, until the end of June 2024, showed that the number of workers in the local labor market, increased by about 52 thousand during the year.

The data indicated an increase in the number of Kuwaiti workers from 447,064 individuals in June 2023 to 451,595 individuals in June 2024, with Kuwaiti workers achieving an increase of 1.01% annually, and the percentage of Kuwaitis reached 21.1% of the total workforce in the labor market.

On the education front, the data indicated that the percentage of Kuwaitis in the labor market with university or post-university qualifications reached 52.5%, and those with intermediate certificates reached 8.8%.
