ICS presents ‘An Evening of Ghazal’ a heartfelt tribute to Jagjit Singh

The Indian Cultural Society (ICS) proudly presents “Apni Dhun Mein Rahta Hoon – An Evening of Ghazal”, a soulful tribute to the legendary Jagjit Singh by the living maestro, Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan. The concert will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the INNOVA Auditorium, Mahboula, Kuwait.
The evening will celebrate the timeless beauty of Ghazal music, featuring performances by Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan, joined by his son Aamir Ali Khan, grandson Naazir Ali Khan, and the young Ghazal virtuoso Ranjeet Rajwada.
A disciple of the iconic Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Ghulam Ali is revered as one of the greatest Ghazal singers of all time. His ability to blend the depth of Hindustani classical music with the lyrical richness of Urdu poetry has created a genre-defining legacy.

His captivating voice and intricate tans have mesmerized audiences across South Asia and around the world — from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and the Middle East.
His unforgettable film debut came with the evergreen classic “Chupke Chupke Raat Din” (from B.R. Chopra’s Nikaah), followed by timeless masterpieces such as Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Awaargi, Apni Dhun Mein Rehta Hoon, Kal Chaudhvin Ki Raat Thi, and Humko Kiske Gham Ne Maara. His choice of poetry from Mirza Ghalib, Daag Dehlavi, Momin Khan Momin, Ibn-e-Insha, Nasir Kazmi, and Mohsin Naqvi reflects a deep reverence for literary excellence.
With an illustrious career spanning decades, Ustad Ghulam Ali’s celebrated albums — Tere Shehar Mein, Mahtab, Sajda, Visaal, Husn-e-Ghazal, Aitbaar, and Saadgi — continue to define the Ghazal tradition. His album Hasratein was nominated for Best Ghazal Album at the 2014 Star GIMA Awards.

Among his many honors are the Pride of Performance Award and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to music.
Adding to the evening’s magic will be Ranjeet Rajwada, one of India’s youngest and most admired Ghazal artists, whose velvet voice and emotive style have earned him national acclaim since his rise to fame on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Superstars 2010. His performances pay homage to the timeless charm of Jagjit Singh, earning praise from luminaries including former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and both Ustad Ghulam Ali and the late Jagjit Singh himself.
Enjoy an unforgettable night of melody, poetry, and nostalgia — a tribute from one legend to another — on 7th November 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at the INNOVA Auditorium, Mahboula.
