The Ambassador of Peru to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Carlos Enrique Jimenez Gil-Fortoul said relations between Peru and Kuwait are gaining momentum across several key sectors, particularly in the economic field.

Speaking during a reception marking Peru’s 205th Independence Day on Tuesday, the ambassador noted that the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations last year, reflecting the strength of their friendship and their shared commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.

The event was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the Americas Abdulaziz Al-Qadfan, along with heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations in Kuwait.

The Peru envoy said there are significant opportunities to enhance cooperation in infrastructure, food security, mining, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, education, healthcare and digital technologies. He welcomed Kuwaiti investors to participate as partners in Peru’s sustainable development.

The ambassador also said Peruvian exporters are ready to expand their presence in the Kuwaiti market by supplying high-quality and sustainable products, including agricultural produce, coffee, fisheries, textiles, garments and processed foods, with the aim of building long-term trade partnerships that benefit both countries.

He noted that Peru has established itself as one of Latin America’s most dynamic economies and invited Kuwaiti investors to take advantage of investment opportunities across various sectors.

The Ambassador added that Peru has built an economy based on financial stability, responsible economic policies, openness to trade and investment, and an attractive investment climate supported by a modern legal framework and an extensive network of free trade agreements.

He said the economic diplomacy extends beyond trade and investment to building trust, strengthening communication, promoting knowledge exchange and fostering sustainable partnerships between peoples.

He expressed hope that the celebration would help open new avenues for economic and commercial cooperation between Peru and Kuwait.

In conjunction with the celebration, the Peruvian Embassy organized the “Peru Investment and Trade Fair,” which showcased the most prominent Peruvian products and industries, including premium coffee, quinoa, value-added food products, and traditional textiles, along with examples of the mineral wealth that the country abounds in, most notably gold and strategic minerals.

Ambassador Jimenez affirmed that organizing the exhibition embodies the Peruvian Embassy’s commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations and promoting his country as a reliable partner in the fields of investment and trade, expressing his hope that these initiatives will contribute to opening new horizons for economic and trade cooperation, and building strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors in Kuwait and Peru.
