Grand inauguration of ‘Week of Italian Cuisine in the World’ 9th edition
The Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with ITA – Italian Trade Agency, inaugurated the 9th edition of the ‘Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World’ with a special event at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Lorenzo Morini, on December 5.
The inauguration was attended by food bloggers, journalists, representatives from Italian restaurants such as: Olio Trattoria Italiana, Da Gusto, Vigonovo, and Mandarino, as well as representatives from major hypermarket chains in Kuwait, including Lulu and Monoprix.
The guests had the opportunity to taste a selection of the finest Italian delicacies, prepared by Italian restaurateurs in Kuwait, all under the theme of the evening: “Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition.”
On the occasion of the Week of Italian Cuisine, the participating Italian restaurants will offer special menus to customers, while supermarkets will showcase a range of high-quality Italian products.
These efforts will be complemented by initiatives in collaboration with “Casa Italia” an organization dedicated to promoting cultural and social activities for the Italian community in Kuwait.
During the press conference, Ambassador Morini highlighted that the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an initiative promoted annually by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, celebrates and promotes Italian cuisine and its gastronomic traditions.
Ambassador Morini emphasized the quality of Italian ingredients, the diversity of regional dishes, and the significance of Italian food culture on a global scale, noting its role as a vital tool for cultural exchange.
Importantly, the Ambassador added that during this week, events will take place all over the world, including tastings, cooking classes, meetings with Italian chefs, and presentations of typical products.
The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World also aims to raise public awareness of the Mediterranean diet and the benefits of healthy and sustainable cuisine.
The Ambassador also emphasized the strong passion Kuwaitis have for Italian cuisine, as evidenced by the steady growth of Italian product imports in the agri-food sector.
In a concluding note, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of continuing to focus on quality to solidify and further expand the market share of Italian products in Kuwait.
