Google Cloud to open its office in Kuwait within two months

Google Cloud has completed all its procedures and obtained the necessary commercial and legal licenses to open its office in Kuwait within the next two months.

• Google has selected its team that will manage its office in the country and implement its contracts with the Kuwaiti government, which exceed $1 billion.

• The contracts include plans for digital and technological transformation in government agencies at the level of all state agencies.

Google Cloud is gearing up for a significant expansion in Kuwait. The company has finalized all necessary procedures and obtained the required commercial and legal licenses to open its office in the country within the next two months.

This move comes under the umbrella of Law No. 116 of 2013 regarding the promotion of foreign investment and its executive regulations.

Google Cloud will operate directly with the Kuwaiti government, bypassing a local intermediary.

The company has already assembled a team to manage its office and oversee its multi-billion dollar contracts with the government. These contracts focus on driving digital and technological transformation across all state agencies.

Strategic alliance for digital transformation

This expansion aligns with Google Cloud’s recently announced strategic alliance with the Kuwaiti government. The alliance aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for a digital transformation program encompassing government agencies and major state-owned enterprises.

The Kuwaiti government will leverage Google Cloud’s expertise in data, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence to fulfill its commitment to digital transformation as a national priority.

This collaboration will enable initiatives such as:

  • Digitising citizen services
  • Enhancing government employee productivity
  • Implementing digital transformation projects in healthcare, education, disaster recovery, and smart living

Local company established

In May 2023, Google Cloud established a local Kuwaiti company named “Google Cloud Services Company.”

This one-person company system, with a capital of 600,000 dinars, is fully owned by Google Europe, Middle East and Africa Unlimited and operates in accordance with the Foreign Direct Investment Promotion Law.
