Eviction warnings issued to charity societies violating residential zoning laws

Following a letter issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs urging enforcement of Ministerial Resolution No. (206/2009)—which prohibits the use of private and model residential properties for non-housing purposes.
The Al-Jarida daily has learned that the ministry will soon begin issuing eviction warnings to charity society branches operating from private housing areas.
The ministry has started surveying all 84 registered charity societies and the more than 200 branches across all governorates, to identify which are the ones violating the law.
Most infractions involve larger organizations with multiple branches, while smaller groups typically have between one and four.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Municipality in coordination with the ministry, has begun issuing eviction warnings to the violating branches, with municipal teams determined to enforce the law starting today.
The eviction period is set at one month, after which fines will be imposed on both the charity societies and property owners found to be using residential properties for unauthorized purposes.
The move aims to preserve the intended residential character of these neighborhoods.
