DAI Special Family Day with Turkish flair

On May 9, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Kuwait co-organized the “Family Day with Turkish Flair” event together with Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah, bringing together children and families from different nationalities for a day dedicated to the promotion of Turkish culture and traditions.
The family-oriented event featured a wide range of cultural and educational activities designed to introduce participants to various aspects of Türkiye’s rich cultural heritage.
Throughout the program, children were introduced to Turkish words and expressions through interactive games and musical activities, while coloring sessions showcased important landmarks, traditional cuisine and cultural elements from Türkiye.
Students of the Kuwait Turkish School also performed Turkish folk dances, encouraging active participation and cultural exchange among attendees.
As part of the program, H.E. Ambassador Tuba Nur Sönmez held an interactive storytelling session featuring stories from Nasreddin Hoca, one of the most beloved figures of Turkish folklore.
Known across the Arab world as “Juha,” Nasreddin Hoca is a celebrated cultural figure whose humorous and thought-provoking stories are widely recognized across the Balkans, Central Asia and the broader region.
Following the storytelling session, H.E. the Ambassador asked children questions about the stories, and children who answered correctly received gifts.
A student of the Kuwait Turkish School also participated in the session dressed in a Nasreddin Hoca costume, which was met with great enthusiasm by the children.
The program concluded with the distribution of crescent-and-star-shaped Turkish-themed snacks and refreshments to participating children and families.
The event provided an enjoyable opportunity for participants from diverse backgrounds to become more familiar with Turkish culture, while further strengthening cultural interaction and people-to-people ties between Türkiye and Kuwait.
