Court upholds 3-year sentence for man posing as female singer online

The Court of Appeal upheld a three-year prison sentence with hard labour, along with a 3,000 dinar fine, for a citizen who used a social media account under a female singer’s name to lure others into immoral activities. The individual was arrested by the morals police, who was deceiving his followers by posing as a woman online.

The Criminal Court had earlier presented the charges to the accused, who had confessed to his actions and expressed regret for his behavior.

The court initially sentenced him to three years in prison with hard labor and a fine. However, the accused contested the verdict and appealed the decision, but the Court of Appeal, upheld the original ruling.
