China has stated that it will work to promote “greater stability” in international relations during the upcoming summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump, scheduled to take place this week.
In a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Beijing aims to engage with Washington on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and shared interests, with a focus on strengthening cooperation, managing differences, and maintaining stability in an increasingly interconnected yet uncertain global environment.
He stressed that high-level diplomacy is playing an “unprecedented strategic role” in shaping Sino-American relations, particularly at a time of global political and economic volatility.
China’s statement comes ahead of the much-anticipated summit, which is expected to address key issues in bilateral relations, including trade, geopolitical tensions, and global security challenges.
Beijing’s remarks signal a cautious but open approach, emphasizing dialogue and stability as central pillars in its engagement with Washington during the high-level meeting.
