Central Bank of Kuwait keeps interest rates unchanged at 3.5 percent

Monetary and financial stability remain strong

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) said the country’s monetary and financial stability conditions remain sound and strong, based on its assessment of the latest local economic and financial data, adding it continues to closely monitor key global economic and monetary indicators, geopolitical developments and their potential impact on Kuwait’s economy.

Its assessment indicates that current monetary trends remain consistent with local economic conditions. According to the latest monetary and banking data, Kuwait’s broad money supply (M2) increased by 1.9 percent in July 2026 compared with the same month last year.

Residents’ deposits with local banks rose by 9.8 percent, while credit facilities extended to residents increased by 4.8 percent over the same period. The Central Bank said its current discount rate stands at 3.5 percent.

The CBK reaffirmed that it will continue to closely monitor global and domestic economic and monetary developments and take appropriate measures when necessary, through available monetary policy and macroprudential tools.

It said such measures would be implemented in a gradual, balanced and flexible manner to support and strengthen monetary and financial stability in Kuwait.
