CENTCOM Confirms US ‘Defensive’ Strikes on Targets in Southern Iran

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Monday that American forces conducted “defensive” strikes against Iranian missile launchers and naval vessels near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The military action occurred amid intensive, indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at brokering a comprehensive resolution to the conflict.

“US forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” CENTCOM spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins told US media.

“Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines. U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.” The spokesperson emphasized that CENTCOM remains committed to force protection while maintaining strategic restraint during the prevailing cessation of hostilities.

The operational theater remains tense as Washington maintains rigorous economic sanctions and a naval blockade alongside warnings of renewed, broader military action. – Kuna
