CAS, PAAAFR signs Memorandum of Understanding

The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fisheries Resources (PAAAFR) for the mutual exchange of statistical information and data.

The agreement, signed at the administration’s headquarters, involved the Acting Director General, Wafaa Al-Yahya, and the Acting Director General of PAAAFR, Nasser Taqi.

Al-Yahya stated that this memorandum serves to strengthen institutional cooperation, coordination, and data integration between the two entities. The collaboration is anticipated to provide additional statistical data pertaining to the agricultural sector and fisheries, contributing to informed government policies, economic development planning, and the enhancement of food security measures.

Al-Yahya emphasized the administration’s ongoing efforts to establish a sustainable executive mechanism, ensuring prompt data responsiveness from government agencies and adherence to clear standards and guidelines on data quality.

Taqi, in a similar statement, highlighted the authority’s commitment since its establishment in 1983 to the development of agriculture, both in plant and animal sectors, as well as the protection and enhancement of fish wealth in the country.

He underscored the significance of inter-agency cooperation in data and information exchange, supporting the Statistics Department as the custodian of data in the country. This collaboration is expected to furnish accurate and updated data on the agricultural sector and fish wealth, facilitating trend analysis and strategic planning for agricultural development, increased productivity, and the achievement of food security.
