CAPT seeks bid bond extension from bidders for Subiya Phase IV power project

- The Central Agency for Public Tenders has asked the three qualified bidders for the fourth phase of the Subiya Power and Water Distillation Plant expansion to extend their bid bonds, as Kuwait moves ahead with a strategic project expected to add 900MW to the national grid and support growing electricity demand.
The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has requested the three qualified bidders for the fourth phase of the Subbiya Power and Water Distillation Plant expansion project to extend their initial bid bonds as the current validity period approaches expiration.
The decision, issued by CAPT’s Board of Directors in accordance with Article 46 of Public Tenders Law No. 49 of 2016, applies to the tender for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of combined-cycle gas turbine units that will add 900 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation capacity to the Subbiya plant.
The agency has notified the participating companies that the bid bond extension will cover the period from June 29 until September 29, allowing tender procedures and regulatory approvals to continue.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy considers the project a key component of its strategy to strengthen the country’s power generation capacity and meet rising electricity demand driven by population growth and the expansion of new residential and industrial developments.
Three companies have already been prequalified to compete for the project after meeting the required technical specifications and conditions. Authorities expect the remaining tender and approval procedures to be completed during the extension period, paving the way for the contract award and project implementation.
