Bayern Munich eye Cup Final return as Leverkusen clash follows Bundesliga triumph

Days after securing their 35th Bundesliga title, and a week before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final, Bayern Munich will visit Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday in the German Cup semi-final.
While Bayern holds the record for the most cup titles (20), the Bavarian club has not reached the final at the Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the decisive match for the cup is traditionally held, since its 2020 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, also 4-2, in a final held without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Six years without a title is an unprecedented streak for the Bavarian team since the end of the last century. In 1998, they were crowned champions in the final against Duisburg, 12 years after their previous title win against Stuttgart in 1986.
