Al-Ajari Center, Eid al-Fitr set for March 30, crescent moon visibility uncertain

The Al-Ajari Scientific Center has announced that, based on precise astronomical calculations conducted by its experts, the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking Eid al-Fitr, will be on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The Al-Ajari Scientific Center has stated that observing the crescent moon on the 29th of Ramadan 1446 AH (March 29, 2025) will be challenging in Kuwait, and it may be impossible to sight.
According to the Centre’s calculations, the crescent will be born at 1:57 PM on Saturday and will remain visible in the skies of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia for only 8 minutes. However, the final decision on the commencement of Shawwal will rest with the Sharia Sighting Authority.
The Centre added that the crescent moon will be visible in the skies of various Arab and Islamic capitals for durations ranging between 4 and 20 minutes, depending on each country’s geographical location. In some Islamic cities, particularly in Southeast Asia, the crescent will set before the sun, making its sighting impossible in those regions on that day.
