Al-Hamad outlines Kuwait’s priorities for sustainable development

Ambassador Sami Al-Hamad, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs, emphasized Kuwait’s strong commitment to the objectives outlined in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development for the year 2024. He highlighted Kuwait’s active role in partnering with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to realize these goals.

During his participation in the forum organized by the ESCWA Committee in Beirut, Ambassador Al-Hamad outlined Kuwait’s priorities, which include addressing poverty, hunger, and climate change, as well as promoting peace, justice, and strategic partnerships to achieve sustainable development. Kuwait is also focused on providing education for marginalized communities and reforming national institutions in Arab countries to build resilient societies capable of confronting climate change, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Ambassador Al-Hamad underscored Kuwait’s contributions to sustainable development, citing the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development’s support for projects in over 104 countries, particularly in the fields of energy, water, environment, and infrastructure.

Additionally, he announced that Kuwait will host the 17th regional workshop to enhance capacity for climate change negotiations in the Arab region in May, in collaboration with the Environment Public Authority and ESCWA. Furthermore, there is an agreement between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ESCWA Committee to conduct training workshops for diplomats focusing on economic diplomacy and climate change.
