Kuwait’s anti-corruption authority takes part in seventh Globe Network meeting in Vienna

The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has stressed the importance of international cooperation in investigating cross-border corruption cases, highlighting the role of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (Globe Network) in facilitating rapid coordination among anti-corruption bodies.
The remarks were made Tuesday by Nazaha Vice President Dr Majid Al-Daihani, who is leading a high-level delegation from the authority at the network’s seventh general meeting, being held at the Vienna International Centre of the United Nations from August 25 to 28.
During a panel discussion on the launch of the Guide to Cooperation Practices in Transnational Corruption Issues, Al-Daihani outlined Nazaha’s experience in investigating cross-border corruption cases. He emphasized the network’s role in supporting cooperation alongside established official channels.
The meeting also saw a number of member states sign a model agreement aimed at strengthening mechanisms for international cooperation. Participants also launched the second edition of the guide on cooperation practices in transnational corruption cases.
The four-day meeting includes specialized sessions on the use of artificial intelligence in law enforcement, as well as bilateral and multilateral meetings addressing operational and strategic issues.
According to Nazaha, the Globe Network facilitates cross-border cooperation by enabling direct communication among law enforcement practitioners in member states, allowing them to exchange information and coordinate efforts more quickly.
The network comprises 252 anti-corruption law enforcement bodies from 137 countries and operates within the framework of the United Nations Convention against Corruption under the umbrella of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Nazaha said Kuwait was among the network’s first members, joining in 2021 and participating in discussions on the adoption of its basic charter. The authority is a member of all the network’s sub-working groups and has chaired several of its meetings while participating in its activities in recent years.
Nazaha said its participation reflects Kuwait’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the international community in combating corruption and its commitment to representing the country at relevant international forums, in line with the authority’s objectives and powers under Establishment Law No. 2 of 2016 and its amendments.
