Kuwait’s first batch of female officers has officially joined the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), marking a historic milestone for the country’s emergency services after successfully completing an intensive six-month training program designed to prepare them for military, administrative and field responsibilities.
The officers underwent comprehensive military, physical and field training alongside academic studies before being assigned to various departments according to their qualifications and operational needs.
Their deployment reflects the commitment of Kuwait Fire Force to expanding women’s participation in vital national service sectors.
The newly commissioned officers said their decision to join the force was driven by a desire to serve the community and contribute to the humanitarian mission of protecting lives and property.
They described the training as physically demanding but rewarding, helping them develop discipline, resilience, leadership skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Lieutenant Luluah Al-Jiran said becoming a firefighter had been a lifelong dream inspired by the force’s mission to safeguard lives.
She credited her family’s unwavering support, particularly her father’s encouragement, for helping her pursue a career in the fire service.
She urged other young women interested in serving the nation not to hesitate in joining the profession.
Lieutenant Ritaj Baqer said the training program transformed her personality by instilling discipline, self-confidence, teamwork and responsibility, qualities she believes will remain with her throughout her career.
Lieutenant Lujain Al-Roumi added that the program equipped female officers to handle both administrative and operational duties, demonstrating that determination and proper training enable women to contribute effectively to civil protection and emergency response.
Among the pioneering officers is Lieutenant Fajr Al-Rashidi, the first woman assigned to the KFF’s Public Relations and Media Department.
She said female officers play an important role in strengthening public awareness campaigns, particularly among women and children in schools, shopping malls and community events.
She emphasized that promoting simple safety measures such as installing smoke detectors, keeping fire extinguishers at home and using fire blankets can significantly reduce accidents and save lives.
Lieutenant Retaj Al-Qattan said the graduation of the first batch of female officers reflects Kuwait’s commitment to empowering women and utilizing national talent across critical public service sectors.
Although the officers will serve in different departments, including prevention, public relations, human resources, technical and administrative units, they remain united by a common mission: serving the nation with professionalism, discipline and readiness to protect lives and property whenever duty calls.
