Kuwait introduces new business activity for AI services and solutions
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has introduced a new commercial activity dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) services and solutions, marking a step toward supporting the growth of emerging technologies and aligning Kuwait’s business classifications with global digital developments.
The ministry announced the addition of the new activity to the approved list of commercial activities through a recent decision, stating that the move is in line with the Unified Guide for the Classification of Economic Activities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The newly added activity falls under the sector of Information and Communications Activities and Related Services, reflecting the growing importance of artificial intelligence in modern economies and business operations.
Under the decision, the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) will serve as the competent regulatory body responsible for overseeing and regulating companies operating in this field.
The introduction of the AI services category allows businesses to officially engage in activities related to artificial intelligence technologies and solutions within Kuwait’s commercial framework, subject to applicable regulations and licensing requirements.
The move comes as Kuwait continues efforts to strengthen its digital economy, encourage innovation and create a business environment that supports advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation and digital transformation.
Artificial intelligence has become a key driver of global economic growth, with applications expanding across sectors such as healthcare, finance, education, cybersecurity, government services and business management.
