Kuwait advances digital transformation with secure cyber infrastructure
Experts call for greater AI, Cloud adoption to support Kuwait Vision 2035
Kuwait’s continued investment in digital infrastructure and cybersecurity is transforming the delivery of government services, reducing reliance on in-person visits and strengthening the country’s resilience against cyber threats, according to technology experts.
Strategic partnerships with leading global technology providers, including Google Cloud and Microsoft, have reinforced Kuwait’s cyber defenses while supporting the expansion of secure digital services as part of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Information technology and cybersecurity expert Shrouq Al-Sayegh said Kuwait has made significant progress in developing its digital infrastructure, resulting in more efficient government services and less pressure on public service centers.
She noted that integrated digital systems have enabled many government transactions to be completed electronically around the clock through platforms such as the Sahel app and the Hawayti digital identity application, which provides secure authentication, electronic signatures, and unified access to government services.
Al-Sayegh added that electronic integration between government agencies has reduced the need for paper documentation, accelerated transaction processing, and improved access to digital payment services. Expanded cloud computing capabilities have also helped ensure uninterrupted government operations, particularly during emergencies.
She said the digital infrastructure has demonstrated its value during periods requiring remote access to services, allowing users to renew official documents, pay fines, and complete government procedures online while minimizing congestion at government offices.
“Investment in digital infrastructure is no longer optional but a strategic necessity that strengthens the state’s flexibility, supports innovation, and advances the transition toward a smart government,” she said.
Information technology and digital security expert Hussein Al-Nakkas said Kuwait’s digital infrastructure has become a cornerstone of the country’s digital transformation strategy through improved communications networks, modernized data centers, expanded cloud services, and advanced digital platforms.
He said these initiatives have significantly improved the quality of government services by enabling citizens and residents to complete transactions remotely, reducing processing times, easing pressure on government agencies, and improving operational efficiency.
Al-Nakkas added that stronger integration between government systems has enhanced data accuracy, accelerated information exchange, increased transparency, and reduced overcrowding at public offices.
He described the progress as a reflection of Kuwait’s vision to build an effective digital government while supporting the digital economy, encouraging innovation, and improving the daily lives of citizens by saving time and effort.
He emphasized that digital infrastructure remains a strategic pillar for achieving the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035 and building a future-ready digital economy.
