Kabd–West Abdullah Al-Mubarak Road commuters’ nightmare

Motorists cry foul as vital Kuwait road becomes hazard zone of potholes and diversions; traffic chaos sparks calls for urgent infrastructure action

The road stretching from the Shubra roundabout in Sulaibiya to the entrance of West Abdullah Al-Mubarak has become a daily source of frustration for motorists, as ongoing construction works, diversions, and deteriorating road conditions continue to disrupt traffic flow and raise safety concerns.

What was once a vital corridor linking Kabd, Al-Hajin, farms, and surrounding residential areas has now turned into a prolonged traffic bottleneck, forcing drivers to endure long delays, especially during peak hours.

Motorists say their journeys now take significantly longer due to lane closures, narrowed passages, and frequent stoppages, reports Al-Rai daily.

Commuters describe the situation as increasingly hazardous, citing open excavations, uneven asphalt, potholes, and concrete barriers that restrict movement and heighten the risk of accidents. Many also report repeated vehicle damage caused by poor road surfaces and sudden bumps along the route.

Road users say the daily commute, whether in the morning or evening, has become unpredictable, with traffic congestion often extending for long distances, particularly where heavy trucks converge in the area.

Residents of nearby areas, including Abdullah Al-Mubarak, have called for urgent intervention to accelerate stalled development works, especially around key junctions and the Kabd roundabout, which they say has seen slow progress and prolonged disruption.

They stressed that the road serves as a critical link for both residents and commercial traffic, making its current condition unsustainable and in need of immediate infrastructure improvements to ease congestion and restore safety.
