Kuwait and Qatar discuss strengthening joint defense cooperation

Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud Al Thani received Chief of the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraian during the latter’s official visit to the Qatar, where both sides discussed enhancing bilateral defense cooperation and military coordination.

During the meeting, the two officials exchanged friendly discussions and reviewed a number of issues of mutual interest, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Kuwait and Qatar.

Lieutenant General Al-Shuraian also held talks with Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Lieutenant General Pilot Jassim bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Mannai. The discussions focused on existing military cooperation between the two countries and explored ways to further develop joint coordination and defense collaboration.

The meetings highlighted the commitment of both Gulf nations to advancing military partnerships and enhancing strategic cooperation in support of regional security and stability, reports a local Arabic daily.

Al-Shuraian was accompanied during the visit by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ahmed Al-Shraim, along with a number of senior Kuwaiti army commanders.
