Kuwait awarded contracts worth approximately $6.273 billion during the first four months of 2026, reflecting renewed activity in the country’s construction and infrastructure sector, according to MEED magazine.
The report said most of the contracts were concentrated in the oil, gas, infrastructure and energy sectors, supported by several large-scale development projects that have boosted momentum in the local market.
January accounted for the largest share of awards at $3.846 billion, driven mainly by a $3.251 billion contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Kabd North wastewater treatment plant.
February followed with contracts worth $1.628 billion, including three Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) projects valued at $1.139 billion related to crude oil pipeline construction and associated infrastructure, as well as a water distribution upgrade project in Hawalli Governorate.
In March, contracts worth $318 million were awarded for two power generation projects at Shagaya and Sabriya, each valued at $159 million, reports Al-Anba daily.
April saw awards totaling $481 million, including two projects for the Ministry of Electricity and Water, one of which involved the South Surra power plant.
MEED noted that the strong performance signals a potential turning point for Kuwait’s construction and development sector, despite ongoing geopolitical challenges in the region.
