Kuwait and Saudi Arabia push for lasting peace after truce deal; urges Iran to end destabilizing actions

Kuwait has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, while urging Tehran and its affiliated groups to immediately halt all hostile actions across the region.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held a phone call with Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, during which both sides reviewed the latest regional developments and discussed the ceasefire, reached following mediation efforts led by Pakistan.

The two leaders reaffirmed the firm and unified position of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in supporting all initiatives aimed at reinforcing regional security and achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for international efforts that helped secure the ceasefire, particularly Pakistan’s role in preventing further escalation.

It stressed the importance of full adherence to the truce as a foundation for dialogue and long-term stability.
Kuwait also called on Iran and its proxies, including militias and armed factions, to cease all actions that undermine regional security and violate state sovereignty, warning against any recurrence of destabilizing activities.

The statement further emphasized the need to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and all key maritime routes, in line with international law.

In a related development, Egypt reaffirmed its full support for Kuwait’s measures to protect its sovereignty and stability.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty conveyed this position during a meeting at Bayan Palace, where he delivered a written message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Kuwait reiterated its backing for all diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, expressing hope that the ceasefire will pave the way for a sustainable political settlement that strengthens regional stability.
