Kuwait University promotes scientific advancement and innovation

During the launch of the Kuwait University Scientific Research Conference under the theme ‘Kuwait Vision 2035: Technology, Creativity, and Innovation,’ Dr. Mishari Al-Harbi, Acting Director of Kuwait University, emphasized the institution’s commitment to elevating its scientific and research standards by underscoring the university’s dedication to exploring new frontiers through ongoing efforts across various sectors.

Al-Harbi highlighted the university’s adherence to the principles outlined in Article Three of Chapter One of the Public Universities Law, which mandates the promotion of values rooted in Arab, Islamic, and human civilizations. He emphasized the importance of fostering freedom of opinion, supporting scientific research, and encouraging innovation, all of which are integral to Kuwait University’s mission, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The university actively translates these principles into action by incentivizing researchers through annual competitions, awards, funding for conference attendance, research collaborations, and partnerships with governmental institutions.

Looking ahead, Al-Harbi expressed the university’s intention to facilitate dialogues between its faculty and government officials to address societal challenges and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.

Dr. Othman Al-Khader, the university’s deputy director for commissioned research, lauded the significant increase in participation in this year’s scientific poster exhibition, with approximately 322 posters—a record-breaking number compared to previous years. He expressed gratitude to the research sector and all contributors for their support in realizing the conference’s objectives.

Al-Khader noted that the scientific posters covered a wide range of contemporary issues of scientific, social, and national significance, reflecting the diverse research interests within the university’s academic community.

Dr. Hanin Al-Ghabra, President of the Conference, emphasized Kuwait University’s responsibility to foster research interests and drive scientific progress in alignment with the vision of “New Kuwait 2035.” She highlighted the rigorous evaluation process conducted by a specialized jury to select distinguished posters based on scientific content, research methodology, presentation quality, and outcomes.

Overall, the Kuwait University Scientific Research Conference serves as a platform to promote scientific advancement, innovation, and collaboration, furthering the university’s mission to contribute to the intellectual and societal development of Kuwait.
