US President Donald Trump has said that Washington has not yet determined how it would respond if the missing crew member of a US fighter jet shot down near Iran is harmed, according to comments reported by The Independent in a brief interview on Friday.
Trump indicated that he was not prepared to outline any potential course of action, noting that he could not comment in advance on possible US responses if Iranian forces were to reach the pilot whose aircraft was downed.
The president added, “We hope that doesn’t happen,” while refraining from further elaboration on the situation or potential consequences, reports Al-Rai daily.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions following the reported downing of the aircraft and ongoing uncertainty regarding the status of the missing crew member.
