New data released by the Pentagon highlights the growing human cost of ongoing US military operations linked to the conflict with Iran, with hundreds of service members reported wounded and 13 confirmed fatalities.
As of Friday, a total of 365 US personnel have been injured, including 247 Army soldiers, 63 Navy sailors, 19 Marines, and 36 Air Force airmen, according to official figures.
It remains unclear whether the data accounts for casualties linked to the reported downing of two US combat aircraft earlier the same day, the Arab News reports quoting Reuters.
A breakdown of the wounded shows that the majority, 200 personnel, were mid- to senior-level enlisted troops. Officers accounted for 85 of the injured, while 80 were junior enlisted service members.
The overall death toll stands at 13. Of these, six service members were killed in a non-combat incident when a US military refueling aircraft crashed over Iraq, according to military statements.
The remaining seven were killed in action during operations targeting Iran.
In a separate development, 12 US troops were wounded, including two seriously, in an Iranian strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, underscoring the expanding scope of hostilities across the region.
The figures point to a steady rise in casualties as military operations intensify, raising concerns over further escalation and its potential impact on regional stability.
