IMA Kuwait hosts ‘Welcome Ramadan 2026’ events across the country

The Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait, under the patronage of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs – Foreign Relations Department, organized a series of “Welcome Ramadan 2026” events across Kuwait, uniting communities in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
The programs were conducted across multiple IMA units, emphasizing spiritual growth, collective responsibility, and service to society.
The events focused on two main themes: “Zakat and Social Justice: An Islamic Economic Vision” and “Preparing for Ramadan with Body, Mind and Soul.”

These themes highlighted both the role of Zakat in promoting social justice and the importance of holistic personal preparation for Ramadan as a month of spiritual and moral transformation.
On February 12, following Isha prayer, simultaneous sessions were held across Kuwait. The Fahaheel and Mangaf Unit hosted visiting scholar Syed Mohiuddin Shakir and Maulana Irfan Nadvi at Urdu Khutba Masjid, discussing the transformative role of Zakat in economic justice.
Abu Halifa Unit held its program at Maryam Masjid with Maulana Waleed Umari and Khursheed Khan, focusing on Ramadan as a season of moral awakening and social responsibility.

The Khaitan Unit conducted a session at Masjid Al-Mailem, stressing organized Zakat systems in combating poverty, while Abbasiya and City Unit hosted Maulana Mohammad Umar Falahi at Masjid Bilqis. Farwaniya and City & Al-Riqqae Units also conducted events emphasizing wealth purification, character development, and integrating spiritual discipline with social ethics.
A special English-language session was held on February 16 at Masjid Hayya Ibrahim in Salmiya for broader community engagement.
Speakers emphasized that Zakat is a structured, rights-based economic system rooted in Qur’anic teachings and Prophetic traditions, designed to ensure fair wealth distribution, prevent economic imbalance, and restore dignity to vulnerable communities.

Ramadan was presented as a period of holistic transformation, encouraging physical, mental, and spiritual preparation, including self-discipline, ethical conduct, compassion, and increased worship.
The programs attracted large audiences, including families, youth, and professionals, and concluded with interactive Q&A sessions and the distribution of dinner packets.
IMA Kuwait expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for its support and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting spiritual growth, social engagement, and community development through future initiatives.
