Interior Ministry seizes fireworks, arrests suspects in major safety crackdown

Three vehicles impounded, search on for three fugitives

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah on Thursday oversaw a major security operation targeting sites used to store fireworks illegally and without the required licenses.

The Ministry of Interior said the operation followed intensive investigations, field surveillance and monitoring by specialized security authorities, which led to the identification of several storage locations.

Large quantities of fireworks were seized, having been stored in unsafe conditions that posed a direct threat to lives and property, reports Al-Rai daily.

The operation resulted in the arrest of several individuals involved in the illegal activity, the confiscation of all seized fireworks, and the impounding of three vehicles used in the transportation and storage of the materials. Legal action was taken against those arrested in accordance with applicable laws.

The ministry added that three fugitives linked to the smuggling, importation and storage of fireworks were also identified and are currently being pursued through legal channels. One of the suspects is a customs employee.

Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef stressed that the Ministry of Interior will continue its security campaigns with full firmness and will not tolerate any violations that threaten public safety.

He affirmed that the law will be applied strictly to anyone who breaches regulations or disregards instructions, without exception.

The Ministry of Interior reiterated its warning against the possession or trade of fireworks without authorization, emphasizing that violators will face strict legal measures with no leniency.

The Ministry also urged the public to comply with laws and instructions, cooperate with security authorities, and report any suspicious activities to help safeguard national security and public safety.
