Kuwait’s inflation rises 2.46% Y-on-Y in Sept, driven by food, healthcare, and clothing

Data released by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) on Thursday revealed that Kuwait’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.46 percent year-on-year at the end of September 2025. Month-on-month, the index increased by 0.22 percent compared to August.

The CSB attributed the increase to price hikes in key categories that heavily influence the CPI, particularly food, healthcare, clothing, and education.

Notably, the food and beverages index jumped 6.14 percent, while cigarettes and tobacco rose marginally by 0.07 percent. Clothing prices increased by 2.82 percent, and housing services recorded a 0.98 percent rise. Home furnishings saw an uptick of 2.42 percent, and healthcare costs grew by 1.94 percent, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Other categories showed mixed trends: transportation prices remained stable, communications rose 0.40 percent, recreation and culture increased 1.30 percent, and education costs climbed 0.55 percent.

Prices in restaurants and hotels went up 1.71 percent, while miscellaneous goods and services surged by 6.16 percent.

Excluding food and beverages, Kuwait’s inflation rate stood at 1.68 percent year-on-year and 0.23 percent month-on-month, reflecting moderate inflationary pressures across other sectors.

The CSB’s report highlights ongoing cost increases in essential goods and services, emphasizing the need for continued monitoring of price trends to manage household living expenses effectively.
