US Embassy praises strong Kuwait–US ties, eyes expanded cooperation

Strategic partnership with Kuwait central to US Middle East priorities -- US Chargé d’Affaires

The Times Kuwait Report

The Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kuwait, Steven Butler, said the United States and Kuwait share a long-standing relationship built on close cooperation and mutual interests, spanning diplomatic and commercial engagement as well as defense partnerships.

He noted that Kuwait, as a major non-NATO ally, plays a vital role in the security of the United States and the wider region, adding that this cooperation serves the national interests of both countries.

It was “wonderful to see so many friends and partners gathered this evening,” expressing, on behalf of the embassy, his appreciation to attendees for their participation, support, cooperation and goodwill throughout the year.

Butler explained that President Donald Trump has clearly emphasized that the Middle East will remain a top priority for the United States, pointing out that one of the president’s first overseas visits was to the region.

This, he said, reflects the importance Washington places on strengthening partnerships, including the strategic partnership with Kuwait.

“We are working together toward a more integrated, prosperous and stable region,” Butler said, stressing that this goal serves the interests of both nations and the region as a whole.

Reflecting on the season, Butler said the occasion provided an opportunity to acknowledge the relationships that underpin ongoing cooperation and emphasized that everyone in attendance plays an important role in strengthening ties between the United States and Kuwait, whether through education, cultural exchange, media cooperation, community engagement, or service in government and public institutions.

Such partnerships, he said, help build bridges of understanding and create tangible opportunities for both countries.

Butler also expressed his gratitude to the embassy’s Public Affairs Section, praising the team’s dedication, creativity and commitment to strengthening connections across Kuwaiti society.

He noted that the gathering was just one example of their year-round efforts to bring people together.

Looking ahead, Butler said he was enthusiastic about the prospects for continued cooperation in the coming year, including new exchanges, innovative ideas and additional ways to support the next generation of leaders, innovators and content creators in Kuwait.

Concluding his remarks, Butler thanked attendees, wishing them and their families a happy holiday season and a new year filled with health and happiness.
