Authorities foil major drug-smuggling operation; seize 100 kilograms of hashish and marijuana

The Directorate-General for Drugs Control, in cooperation with the General Administration of Customs and the Kuwait Fire Force, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive quantity of narcotics into the country.
Following intensive surveillance and investigative efforts, officers received credible intelligence indicating that a citizen had traveled to the Islamic Republic of Iran using his private vehicle aboard the Shuwaikh Sea Port ferry, intending to bring narcotics into Kuwait by concealing the contraband in sophisticated hidden compartments inside the vehicle.
A specialized field formed to verify the information, proved the accuracy and coordinated the efforts with the ‘Customs’ by monitoring the movement of the vehicle upon return journey, intercepted it upon arrival at Shuwaikh Seaport and arrested the suspect, reports Al-Rai daily.
Given the potential risks associated with tampering with concealed compartments, the Kuwait Fire Force was called in to ensure safe inspection procedures.
The joint operation uncovered more than 100 kilograms of hashish and marijuana, professionally hidden in several areas of the vehicle.
The contraband was seized, and legal measures have been initiated. The suspect and the SEIZED narcotics have been referred to the Narcotics Prosecution Office for further action.
