Criminal Court fines social media user KD 10,000 for insult and misuse of phone

The Criminal Court has ordered a social media user to pay fine 10,000 dinars after finding him guilty of insulting a segment of society and misusing his mobile phone.
The case was filed following offensive remarks the accused published on his social media account, which prosecutors argued constituted an attack on social cohesion and violated laws regulating the use of telecommunications.
In its ruling, the court stressed the importance of maintaining respect in public discourse, particularly on social media platforms, which it described as powerful tools that must not be misused to offend or undermine the dignity of others.
The verdict comes as part of ongoing judicial efforts to curb the misuse of digital platforms and ensure accountability for online behavior that breaches the law or threatens social harmony.
