Al-Yahya highlights Kuwait’s key achievements at 80th UNGA high-level week

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya said today that Kuwait’s participation in the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York achieved remarkable successes under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, who was represented at the UN by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.
Al-Yahya highlighted Kuwait’s statement to the General Assembly which reaffirmed the country’s commitment to national, Arab, and Islamic principles, particularly supporting the just Palestinian cause and advocating for the restoration of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights in accordance with international resolutions.
The statement also emphasized Kuwait’s focus on humanitarian issues and its call for the international community to renew efforts to reform the UN, enhance its mechanisms, and strengthen its role in maintaining global peace, security, and sustainable development, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The Amir’s representative also addressed Kuwait’s national priorities, including promoting sustainable development, consolidating regional stability, and supporting mediation and dialogue efforts.
He participated in the Security Council emergency session on the Middle East, delivering a speech on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which Kuwait currently chairs, reaffirming the Gulf states’ united stance in supporting Palestine and safeguarding regional security.
Kuwait additionally engaged in numerous regional and international meetings, including those of the GCC, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Arab League, and the Group of 77 and China, emphasizing collective action and international cooperation. Bilateral meetings were held with leaders of 31 countries, senior UN officials, and CEOs of global companies, discussing ways to enhance relations, investment opportunities, and cooperation aligned with Kuwait’s development vision.
Al-Yahya concluded that Kuwait’s active participation underscores its commitment to UN reform, climate action, sustainable development, human rights, and empowerment of women and youth. He stressed that Kuwait remains a steadfast partner in promoting international peace, upholding legitimacy, and contributing to a stable and prosperous future for the region and the world.
