Iraq hands over Kuwaiti murder suspect at Abdali crossing

The Iraqi security authorities have arrested a Kuwaiti man, identified only H. A. R. M., who wanted for the premeditated murder of his Syrian wife.
According to reports the man was wanted by the Kuwaiti authorities and the arrest happened as part of the joint security cooperation between Kuwait and Iraq. It is reported the man was taken into custody following an international arrest warrant.
The security authorities said the accused had escaped to Iraq via the Abdali border crossing on October 18, 2024, shortly after committing the crime. The victim was found dead inside her home, and the case reportedly is still being investigated by the Public Prosecution.
Following the completion of legal procedures in Iraq, the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council approved the suspect’s extradition to Kuwait.
He was handed over on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, to the Kuwaiti authorities at the Abdali border crossing, in coordination between the Kuwaiti Interpol and its Iraqi counterpart.
The suspect has been referred to the competent authorities in Kuwait to proceed with the necessary legal actions.
