Lebanon foils cocaine smuggling attempt

The Lebanese Anti-Narcotics Bureau has intercepted an attempt to smuggle 156 cocaine capsules into the country weighing 3.4 kilograms of the drug.
The security authorities say the operation was part of a wider network moving cocaine from Nigeria to Lebanon via Ethiopia, with two Nigerian nationals identified as the couriers.
The suspects arrived in Beirut on July 24, 2025, had apparently swallowed the drugs, to avoid detection and arrest. They were monitored to a Keserwan hotel, where they were caught preparing to extract and deliver the drugs, according to Lebanese security authorities.
When diluted for sale, the cocaine’s value was estimated at over $500,000. The detainees have been referred to the competent judiciary for prosecution.
