
Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) today with five major French medical and healthcare institutions in Paris, marking a significant step in strengthening Kuwaiti-French healthcare cooperation.
In a joint statement to KUNA and Kuwait TV, Minister Al-Awadhi said the agreements align with the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to develop Kuwait’s healthcare system and deepen international partnerships in medicine.
The MoUs cover a wide range of specialties including oncology, cardiology, organ transplantation, and other advanced medical fields. The MoUs aim to raise the efficiency of the Kuwaiti health sector, improve patient care, and expand access to global expertise.
Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized that the agreements also open the door to knowledge exchange, joint training programs, and scientific research collaboration, helping local medical professionals reach global standards.
Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services Dr. Hisham Kalander said the MoUs include:
- Telemedicine services to access international expertise remotely
- International fellowships and observation programs
- Hosting of visiting physicians for direct skill transfer
- Joint clinical trials to develop and improve treatments
- Diagnostic support with advanced technologies
- Improved referral management to connect patients with specialized hospitals
- These pillars aim to modernize patient care and enhance the capacity of Kuwaiti healthcare professionals.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to France Abdullah Al-Shaheen said the signing reflects the depth of Kuwaiti-French ties, building on the momentum of His Highness the Amir’s recent visit to Paris.
He called the agreements a qualitative leap in healthcare cooperation and a move that reflects mutual dedication to advancing vital sectors.
The French institutions involved are Almviva Group, Curie Hospital, Foch Hospital, Montessori Institute and the Rothschild Foundation Hospital. All these institutions are renowned for their medical and academic excellence.
The signing ceremony took place at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Paris and was attended by senior Kuwaiti health officials and French institutional representatives.
