Series of earthquakes rattle Pakistan, strongest at magnitude 5.5

Pakistan was hit by a series of earthquakes on Sunday, the strongest of which registered a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter Scale, according to official reports. The most recent tremor, measuring magnitude 4.5, struck early in the morning, Pakistan’s National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed.
In a post on social media platform X, the NCS stated that the quake occurred at 8:02 AM IST at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers—an indicator of potential aftershocks. The full post read: “EQ of M: 4.5, On: 29/06/2025 08:02:51 IST, Lat: 30.24 N, Long: 69.86 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Pakistan.”
Seismologists caution that shallow quakes can result in more intense ground shaking due to the shorter distance seismic waves travel to reach the surface. However, no immediate reports of injuries or major damage have been received, according to news reports.
