Kuwait committed to combating desertification, promoting sustainability: Behbehani

Acting Director-General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA), Nouf Behbehani, reaffirmed Kuwait’s dedication to protecting soil and natural resources while advancing environmental sustainability through effective initiatives aimed at reducing degradation and fostering sustainable development.

Speaking to KUNA on the occasion of the World Day to Combat Desertification, Behbehani highlighted desertification as one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing the region due to its direct implications for food security, ecosystem stability, and overall quality of life.

She emphasized the EPA’s efforts in raising environmental awareness through educational programs that promote responsible land use practices. Behbehani also noted the authority’s active support for both local and international efforts to combat desertification and address the broader impacts of climate change.
