Over 22,000 traffic citations issued and 1,293 accidents recorded in one week

Statistics released by the General Traffic Department for the period between May 31 and June 6 reveal a significant number of traffic-related incidents and enforcement actions across the country.

During the one-week period, authorities issued a total of 22,540 traffic citations for various types of violations ranging from speeding and reckless driving to and other infractions, reports Al-Anba daily.

This is in addition to the arrest of 64 juveniles for committing traffic offenses, along with 110 wanted individuals and violators who were arrested during ongoing traffic campaigns.

The report also highlighted the occurrence of 1,293 traffic accidents within the week. Of these, 1,114 were classified as minor issues, while 179 accidents resulted in injuries or fatalities, underscoring the continued need for stricter enforcement and public awareness of road safety.

The General Traffic Department emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations to protect lives and ensure safer roads for all users.
