Dubai has reinforced its status as one of the world’s top tourist destinations, attracting 14.96 million international visitors between January and October 2024. This marks an 8% increase compared to 13.9 million visitors during the same period in 2023, efforts by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
The data indicated that Dubai’s hotel occupancy rate reached 77% from January to October 2024, slightly up from 76% during the same period in 2023.
This growth was driven by strong occupancy rates for regular hotel apartments, which recorded 81%, as well as about 78% for hotels ranging from 1 to 4 stars and luxury hotel apartments.
The number of hotel nights booked in Dubai increased by 3%, reaching 35.15 million nights, compared to 34.19 million nights in the same period the previous year.
The average length of stay was approximately 3.6 nights, while the average daily room rate rose by 3%, reaching AED 502, up from AED 488. Additionally, the return on available rooms increased by 4%, reaching AED 386, compared to AED 373.
According to the data, the number of hotel rooms and apartments in Dubai, increased by 2%, reaching 152,532 units by the end of October 2024. Moreover, the number of hotel establishments grew by 1%, bringing the total to 827 establishments.
Western Europe topped the list of regions sending visitors to Dubai during the first ten months of 2024, accounting for approximately 20% of the total, or about 2.94 million tourists.
South Asia came second, contributing about 2.54 million tourists, or 17% of the total visitors. The GCC region followed with approximately 2.2 million tourists, making up 15% of the total.
Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Eastern Europe came next, accounting for 2.07 million tourists, or 14% of the total number of visitors.
Dubai welcomed approximately 1.74 million tourists from the Middle East and North Africa, accounting for 12% of the total visitors.
Northeast and Southeast Asian countries followed with a 10% share, equivalent to 1.46 million visitors.
The Americas contributed about 986,000 visitors, representing 7% of the total, while Africa accounted for around 713,000 visitors, or 5%.
Finally, Australia contributed 292,000 visitors, making up 2% of the total international visitors to Dubai.
