Al-Ahmadi’s green revolution takes root on highways
The campaign aims to plant 100,000 seedlings, encouraging the community to actively participate in preserving the environment and supporting volunteer efforts in afforestation across the Governorate.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Mahmoud Bushehri, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, launched a highway afforestation campaign in Al-AhmadiGovernorate on Saturday.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with Al-AhmadiGovernor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, state institutions, and civil society organizations, aims to enhance the region’s greenery, Al Jarida newspaper reported.
The Saudi Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries stated that minister Bushehri praised the authority’s significant efforts as the first phase of cosmetic implants was completed. This phase included work on the airport road, the Sixth Ring Road, and King Fahd Road, in cooperation with the Roads Authority, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Electricity and Water.
Minister Bushehri emphasized that efforts are ongoing to incorporate cosmetic implants across all governorates of Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Al-Ahmadi, Sheikh HamoudJaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, highlighted that the campaign aims to promote environmental awareness, contribute to sustainable development, and expand green spaces along highways. These efforts help combat pollution and enhance the aesthetic appeal of public roads in the governorate.
Sheikh Hamoud stated that the campaign aims to plant 100,000 seedlings, encouraging the community to actively participate in preserving the environment and supporting volunteer efforts in afforestation across various areas of Al-Ahmadi Governorate.
Meanwhile, the Director of the authority, Eng. Nasser Taqi, emphasized that the launch of the campaign marks a new step in the authority’s project to cultivate and green Kuwait, as well as to restore life to areas with little or no vegetation cover.
Taqi commended the collaboration among state entities, including the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, Kuwaiti oil companies, the Ministry of Education, civil society institutions, and individual initiatives, for their support and active participation in the Green Urban Development Program and their significant contributions to the greening of Kuwait.
