Biometric holdouts face account freeze as ministry deadline passes
The Public Authority for Civil Information submitted a list of citizens who have not completed the biometric fingerprint process to the Kuwait Banking Association.
• The Ministry of Interior urged citizens to complete biometric fingerprinting by 30th of this month, warning that civil cards and all transactions will be suspended for those who miss the deadline.
Banking sources have disclosed that the Public Authority for Civil Information submitted a list of citizens who have not completed the biometric fingerprint process to the Kuwait Banking Association by the weekend. These individuals now face the freezing of their transactions and bank accounts as the Ministry of Interior’s deadline has expired, according to Al Qabas newspaper.
The Ministry of Interior called for the urgent completion of the biometric fingerprint process before the deadline on the 30th of this month, warning that civil cards and all government and banking transactions for those who have not completed the procedure will be immediately suspended after the deadline.
Sources stated that banks received lists containing tens of thousands of names ahead of the planned freeze of their bank accounts after the specified deadline. The sources also indicated that banks sent text messages to customers whose names appeared on the lists, notifying them of the impending account freeze once the deadline passes.
